Psychiatric Evaluation
A psychiatric evaluation (aka an “intake”) is a comprehensive, structured interview and assessment to learn about you/your child. The ultimate goal is to provide my professional recommendation(s) on diagnosis/diagnoses and treatment plan(s) based on my assessment, tailored to your individual needs. I will ask questions about what brought you to seek services, including current symptoms, behaviors, thought patterns, and stressors. I will also ask questions to learn about your day to day life (job/school, housing, relationships, etc.), your mental health in the past, your physical health, and your family history.
I am also able to provide second opinions and one-time consultations.

Medication Management
Medication management is the ongoing evaluation and assessment of symptoms to determine need for initiating, continuing, or changing psychotropic medication(s). This entails close monitoring of the response to medication, being attentive to any side effects, and making adjustments as needed to optimize the treatment plan. This process requires a nuanced approach and I strive to always take into account each client’s unique needs and lifestyle. Maintaining regular appointments helps to monitor that the medication is doing what we want it to, make changes if warranted, and address any potential side effects.

Supportive Psychotherapy
I utilize the supportive psychotherapy modality with clients who wish to engage in therapy with me. This approach uses emotional support, empathy, validation, encouragement, question-asking, and reframing, in a safe and nonjudgmental space. The overall goal is to help clients process their experiences and emotions, feel empowered, and collaboratively problem-solve. My sessions have a conversational feel; feedback and suggestions are typically provided as well.

Medication-Assisted Treatment
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach used to treat substance use disorders. I am able to prescribe FDA-approved medications, including: Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone), naltrexone oral, Antabuse (disulfiram), and Campral (acamprosate), as well as some off-label evidence-based options.
I do not offer Vivitrol (naltrexone IM injection) or any detoxification services at this time.
